Chronicle wins community journalism award
By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor
The Northside Chronicle was granted the Community Journalism Award at the seventh annual Greater Pittsburgh Media Awards on Oct. 19.
The awards ceremony, which is hosted by Pittsburgh Community Television (PCTV), annually awards community media producers at PCTV, Bethel Park Public Access, Monroeville Municipal Television and City Channel Pittsburgh. In addition to these public access media stations, the ceremony for the past three years has given out an award to a community radio station and a community journalism source. The Chronicle received the latter, while WRCT Radio of Carnegie Mellon University received the latter.
Accepting the award on The Chronicle’s behalf was Managing Editor Sean P. Ray, who thanked Advertising Manager Lauren Stauffer, PCTV, the Neighborhood Community Development Fund for its financial support and The Chronicle’s readers and subscribers in a speech while accepting the award.
