Old Allegheny Soccer’s U14 travel team made the trip over to Wexford on Oct. 15 to take on the Pine-Richland Soccer Club on a professional sized pitch, and came away with a hard-fought 7-1 victory.
After giving up an early goal to the PRSC team, the OA squad rallied, scoring seven unanswered goals to take the victory.
“It was a great football display from both teams,” said Old Allegheny Head Coach Rob Lagorio. “While Pine Richland had the better of us in midfield and clever set pieces, Old Allegheny used the extra space on that FIFA-sized field to our advantage and came away with an emphatic win. It was an absolute pleasure to be a part of.”
Trailing 1-0, the Northside team’s equalizer came from Nehemiah Sun, who scored on a penalty kick. Sun added two more goals in the first half.
Arthur Lagorio, Frank Fischer and Matt Frisco also scored goals as the team took a 6-1 lead at halftime.
Ben Sykut added the team’s lone second half goal.
Old Allegheny got a solid effort from A.J. Frisco and Rhsye Esser, who both got assists in the game, while the team’s defense was shored up by Georgie Stiegler, Robert Lobick, Teigan Larson and Morgan Gannon.
C.J. Basel took on goalkeeping duties in the first half, while Gannon put forth a shutout effort in net in the second half.
Old Allegheny will wrap up its fall season on Nov. 5 when the team travels to Fox Chapel.
