District 21 News: Rep. Powell introduces her first piece of legislation: House Bill 1911
District 21: Rep. Powell
Wishing everyone in District 21 a happy and healthy New Year! I hope the holiday season was relaxing and brought joy to all. The end of 2023 was busy for me as we were getting things done in Harrisburg, and as I was spending time getting to know the people who make up our district. I look forward to continuing the hard work we have started together in 2023 and hope to bring more wins to the people of our district and all of Pennsylvania in 2024.
I am proud to announce that I introduced my first piece of legislation with Majority Whip Dan Miller, House Bill 1911. This bill will ensure that public employees who are on strike are guaranteed health insurance during their time on the picket lines. People should not have to choose between their health benefits and their right to collectively bargain for a fairer and more equitable workplace. If you have any questions or legislative priorities you would like to raise, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my team. My ability to fulfill my role as an elected official cannot be done without listening and learning from the people of my district.
I want to thank everyone who came to my district office open house and ate some delicious cookies from around the 21st Legislative District with me. I am excited to host more events this year where I will have the opportunity to meet you all! I also had the privilege of visiting some of our senior neighbors at York Commons and Etna Commons this past year where we talked about how I can best assist them in my role as representative. It was amazing to hear stories and to share the resources that are available to our senior neighbors. I’m excited to continue these visits throughout my time as your representative!
