January 2024 poll results reported
By Sean P. Ray | Managing Editor
The first month of 2024 has come and gone, which means it’s time once more to look at the results of The Northside Chronicle’s weekly polls.
As we were just coming off of the Christmas season when our latest batch of polls launched, we asked what your favorite part of Christmas was. Well apparently our readers are cinephiles, because Christmas movies received 100% of the vote!
Our next poll was unanimous for a different reason, however. We next asked what your New Years Resolution was. Chronicle readers do not observe this tradition of the holiday, however, as we received no votes in that poll. Well that’s OK, no reason to pressure yourself with a resolution you might not be able to keep.
Last issue, we announced the outcome of our Spirit of the Holiday Photo Contest, in which Stacy Berkbile won the coveted prize with her picture of her dog Ralphie Barker gazing at some Christmas lights.
As such, we asked our readers whether they took part in the contest, and 100% of respondents said that they did by voting for their favorite photo. You can get your chance to take part in our new photo contest, “Cutest Baby,” by checking out the rules on page 4 of this issue.
Our most popular poll of the month asked how you felt about the upcoming primary election season. While the primary won’t reach Pennsylvania in April, other states, such as Iowa and New Hampshire, were already getting underway with their votes.
Enthusiasm for the primary is not high, as 62.5% of respondents said they were very negative in their opinion of the primary. Only 25% said they were very positive, and 12.5% said they were only somewhat positive.
Finally, we saw a lot of snow toward the end of January, though it has vanished by the time we’re printing this paper. So we asked how our readers were enjoying the snow.
In contrast to our last poll, responses were very enthusiastic this time, as 66.7% said they loved it. Options “It’s pretty nice” and “I could do with less snow” each received 16.7% of the vote to round out the responses.
That brings an end to our latest round of poll results. Check out thenorthsidechronicle.com to vote in our weekly polls, which are posted every Sunday morning.
