District 21 News: Upcoming events in District 21
By State Rep. Powell
Happy spring to my Northside neighbors! We are back in session in Harrisburg, and I am ready to get back to work advancing and passing legislation that will improve our district and all the Commonwealth. Back home in Pittsburgh I have a couple of events coming up that I want to share with you all.
I am hosting a string of mobile office hours around the district to make my office more accessible to you! The next office hours will take place at Millvale Community Library on April 9 from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please join my team and me and get assistance with programs and services such as Property Tax Rent Rebates, applying for SNAP benefits and much more.
Additionally, my office is hosting a Veteran Service Officer from the Department of Veterans Affairs on the second Monday of each month. In April, we’ll be hosting him at our office on April 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are a veteran or know a veteran who would like help in accessing their benefits, please call my office at (412) 781-2750 to schedule an appointment.
We are happy to announce that we are having our first shredding event with State Sen. Lindsey Williams on April 27 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kiwanis Park in Glenshaw! The address is 399 Wetzel Road in Glenshaw. Please limit to two boxes of paper only per vehicle. If you cannot make it to this event, do not worry! We will be having another shredding event in the summer. Look out for the date and time of that event in future newsletters!
My office will host a Seniors for Safe Driving course at the Goodwill of Southwestern Pennsylvania on May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The address for the Goodwill is 118 52nd St. in Pittsburgh. The cost is only $17 and this training is available to drivers 55 years and up. An insurance discount of 5% can be earned after successfully completing the course, and it will apply for a period of up to three years. To register please call (1800) 559-4880 or call my office for assistance enrolling.
I hope to see you at one, a few, or all of these events throughout the district or just around the neighborhood!
